In need an Asian influence on their dinner plate? Mamasan is a great choice. Having dined at the Surry Hills location I had to sit down of a bite to eat at their Broadbeach location while on the Gold Coast.
Located in Broadbeach in the Oracle Boulevard dining precinct, this end of Broadbeach offers quite a few new dining destinations including Mamasan. The decor and feel are pretty cool, with polished concrete floors, solid timber tables, an open kitchen to see all the action of each dish getting made, Asian trinkets in many corners along with a Japanese whiskey cabinet to envy.
It’s modern Asian dining all in a dimly lit space. Having been awarded One Hat – Good Food Guide 2018 and One Hat – Brisbane Times Good Food Awards 2017, it was easy to understand why my steamed buns were so delicious.
Very rarely do I dine in an Asian restaurant and not order edamame, this occasion was no exception; Edamame with pink salt and Japanese 7 spices. The Pork San Choy Bau was great. Served with slowly cooked Byron Bay pork, peanut and snake beans.
Next were Chinese steamed buns with Soft Shell Crab Bao and these were next level! The softest steamed buns I’ve had. The Mama tartare sauce I couldn’t get enough off and the slight kick of jalapeno added the right amount of heat. If you love your Sashimi, the Ocean Trout is a great choice. Cucumber, ginger pickle, beetroot gel, honey wasabi and soy pear company the plate.
With a great wine choice on hand, this is a great place to get a fine Asian fix. Find more here at mamasanbroadbeach.com
