Old Mates Place, CBD
A new player in town, right in the heart of the CBD. A former office building that’s been transformed into an old school library vibe bar, Old Mates Place is one of the newest rooftop bars in the city oozing old-world charm. Walls lined with timber bookshelves filled with classic novels, curved leather booths and potted trees add to a sophisticated ambience, all brightened by candlelight. Shaking up ever cocktail variation from vodka, whisky and gin including The Pistacia; Green Grape, Rhubarb, Toasted Pistachio, Lemon Thyme, White Rum, Manzanilla Sherry and Citrus. Bar snacks will keep you full in-between city gazing and making your way through their cocktail list.

The Royal Hotel, Paddington
A local fave and classic icon among the Eastern Suburbs locals, The Royal Hotel is a heritage pub in Paddington with sweeping city and suburban views. With four levels of wining and dining at your disposal, the Royal Bar sits on Ground Floor, The Verandah on Level 1, Elephant Bar, a dedicated Cocktail Bar located on Level 2 and then the cherry on top, a Rooftop open for all. Offering up pub classics in a luxe fashion including sharing options, it’s the perfect spot to catch the sunset and savour a fine cocktail.

Taylor’s Rooftop Bar, CBD
Look up and you’re surrounded by the evening lights of city skyscrapers and stars. Positioned on the corner of Pitt and Bridge Street, The Republic Hotel occupies four floors including a restaurant and private spaces, but the fourth floor is where it’s at. With industrial beams contrasting against lush green walls of ferns, the contemporary space exudes a city summer with all your fave beverages on hand; oh and they make a mean whiskey sour too! Snacks and mains are available on the rooftop or head to the Republic Dining Room for a sit-down meal and pinot.

The Quarryman’s Hotel, Pyrmont
Sitting above a Century-Old pub in Pyrmont is the roof-top of The Quarryman’s Hotel. After a recent facelift, this casual pub pours up to 30 types of beer on tap including craft beers and ales from small local Aussie brewers. Classic pub charm, decked out with wooden floors and exposed beams fills the lower floor. Look for the cactus logo and head up the stairs to be surrounded with a Palm Springs-inspired rooftop nestled between the buildings of Pyrmont. A super chilled vibe where you can savour a cocktail and dig your knife and fork into pan-roasted snapper and wrap your mouth around a Southern-style Chicken Burger.

Cruise Bar – Junk Lounge, Circular Quay
Cruise Bar has been a fixture at Circular Quay for quite some time. Formally the official grounds of Fashion Week, Cruise Bar has had a fashionable overhaul of its own with a renovation and rebrand of the second level now know as Junk Lounge. This second floor captures the best vantage point of the Sydney Opera House, city skyline and harbour waters. An interior with murals painted by urban artist FinDAC, Junk Lounge was named after the traditional vessels that float in the harbours of Hong Kong. An oriental fusion bar and restaurant serves up cocktails with an Asian flavour influence. For a bite to eat you’ll be seated on the long 24-seat communal dining tables. Savour the shaved pork steamed buns, duck and shiitake mushroom gyoza or braised wagyu beef brisket.
