The awards night of all awards nights; the gem that is the Oscars always proves to roll out the red carpet for some fashion hits and misses. Let us forget about any of the misses and take a look at some of the best-dressed gents of the evening. From classic dapper to velvet and monochrome, here are a few of the best dapper looks and who wore what.
Kicking it off with the man of the night, Mr Leonardo Dicaprio, who finally picked up his first ever Oscar (a little hard to believe this is his first) sported the ever classic traditional black-tie attire in a dapper made-to-measure Giorgio Armani tux with Christian Louboutin shoes.
Steering away from the traditional tux fabrications, Edi Redmayne donned textures of velvet with a contrasting satin peaked lapel by Alexander McQueen paired with a velvet slipper. A few other gents including Henry Cavill, Will Poulter and Jimmy Napes who wore a deep forest green velvet jacket by Dunhill, also pulled out the textured card. In the opposite colour spectrum, Common wore an all-white tux by Dolce and Gabanna along with an extra bit of bling in the form of a diamond-encrusted lapel pin.
One man who always opts for the ‘less traditional’ Oscars red carpet apparel is Jared Leto. With red piping contract detailing, this tailored Gucci number has the perfect balance of dapper and edge. Oh and the flower corsage / anti bowtie statement; only Jared Leto. A few shades of blue made its way on the carpet. Mark Ruffalo wearing a cobalt jacket by Valentino along with Sylvester Stallone in navy Saint Laurent, Michael Straham, Dev Patel and Finn Wittrock also opting for to inject a little hue of blue into their look for the big event.
It’s always great to see some gents occasionally challenging the conventional all black look and change things up a little. Ryan Gosling wearing Gucci ditched the black bowtie for a white one, while the host of the evening Chris Rock wearing Burberry threads and Christian Louboutin shoes, sported a black and white combo for quite a chic look. Ryan Seacrest went one extra step with the mixed and matched colour palette in an amassable with a textured grey dinner jacket paired with black tailored trousers by his namesake label ‘Ryan Seacrest Distinction’.
Stay dapper gents.
