Windy, rainy and wintery weekends can be a little challenging to peel yourself off the lounge and head out for the night. So there’s no better way then to bring the night to you with some of these top warming whiskey cocktail recipe’s you can whip up for you and your mates…or just for one.
CHANCELLOR COCKTAIL
One gent who knows a thing or two about the perfect tipple is cocktail historian, author and writer, Mr David Wondrich. He notes this beverage as “a dry and slightly mysterious little fiddle — not unlike a Perfect Manhattan, with Port for the sweet vermouth and Scotch for the Rye — that screams out “club chair,” “billiards,” and “smoking jacket.”
RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 ounces whiskey (use a blended Scotch whisky).
1-ounce Ruby Port.
1/2 ounce vermouth (use French Vermouth).
2 dashes orange bitters.
Cocktail glass
Method:
With a few cubes of crushed ice, stir all the ingredients nicely in your cocktail mixer, then strain into a pre-chilled cocktail glass.
MILLIONAIRE
“Sweet, pleasant, even jovial”.
RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 ounces whiskey – Rye Whisky.
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier.
1 dash grenadine.
1 egg whites.
cocktail glass
Method:
This one requires some intense shaking, so put on your favourite tune to get you the zone.
With crushed ice added to your cocktail shaker, shake up this beverage vigorously to breakdown the egg white and help it mix through all the ingredients evenly. The better and bigger the shake, the creamier and smoother the results for the perfect top froth.
Strain into a pre-chilled glass.
SUBURBAN
“If you could distil carved-oak panelling and club chairs, leather-bound volumes and three-cushion billiard tables, this is what you’d get. Mellow, robust, comfortable. The rum mellows the tang of the Rye, the Port tames the raw edge of the distillates and the bitters adds a touch of the exotic”.
RECIPE
Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces of whiskey (use Rye Whisky).
1/2 ounce rum ( use dark rum).
1/2 ounce Port.
1 dash orange bitters.
1 dash Bitters (use Angostura Bitters).
Cocktail glass.
Method:
Add some crushed ice in your cocktail mixed and stir well before staining over your pre-chilled cocktail glass.
